PROOFS OF THE PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE

INTRODUCTION:

Matthew 3:1-2, 11-12: "In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ... I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

1 Corinthians 3:11-15: "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

2 Corinthians 5:10-11, 18-20: "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; ... And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God." (When a kingdom or nation declares war on another, the first thing it does is recall its ambassadors.)

2 Timothy 2:1-2, 7-8: "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. ... I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."

Colossians 3:4-7: "When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the WRATH of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them."

1 Corinthians 15:21-24: "For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power."

1 Thessalonians 1:9-10: "For ... ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the WRATH to come."

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10: "For God hath not appointed us to WRATH, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him." (cf. 1:10)

1 Thessalonians 2:19: "For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?"

1 John 2:28: "And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming."

It disturbs me to see so many Christians abandoning the sound Biblical doctrine of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of all "born again" people and their "children" (1 Cor 7:14) of this Church Age. I am convinced that many of these are saved, but they are throwing away a promised crown. This is a doctrine that is dear to my heart and it should be to all believers! In my over 35 years of Bible study I have seen nothing to dissuade me from this Biblical truth, but only that which reinforces it!

BASIC PROOFS:

1. Is The Gathering Together of God's Elect in Matthew 24 The Same as The Catching Up in 1 Thessalonians 4?

The post-tribulation view of the rapture of Christians has two main premises:
1) That Matthew 24:31 and 1 Thessalonians 4:17 both refer to the same event. We will deal with this point later.
2) That persecution and the tribulation of the world and the 7 year great tribulation are the same. The Lord Jesus said:

John 16:33: "... In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

John 15:20: "Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also."

The persecution and tribulation of the world has been around since the days of Cain and Abel, and the Old Testament prophets and it intensified with Christianity, even though it is just now beginning again in America. However, the mere persecution and tribulation of this world is not what is referred to when the Bible speaks of the "great tribulation" and "the wrath of God."

No, the "great tribulation" (Mat. 24:21; Rev. 2:22, 7:14) is called, "the wrath of the Lamb" (Rev. 6:16), "the wrath of God." (Rev. 14:10, 19, 15:1, 7, 16:1) and "the wrath of the LORD" (Isa. 13:13). The time period is also called, "the time of Jacob’s trouble" (Jer. 30:7), "the day of the LORD'S wrath" (Zeph. 1:18; Ezek. 7:19), "the day of the LORD’S anger" (Zeph. 2:2-3), "the time of the LORD’S vengeance" (Jer. 51:6), "the day of the LORD’S vengeance" (Isa. 34:8; cf. Jer. 46:10), and just "the day of the LORD" (Ezek. 30:3; Joel 1:15, 2:1, 11, 3:14; Amos 5:18, 20; Oba. 1:15; Zeph. 1:7-8, 14; Zech. 14:1; 1 Thess. 5:2; 2 Pet. 3:10). The Bible speaks of it on this wise:

Daniel 12:1: "And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book."

Jeremiah 30:7: "Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it."

It is the Prophet Daniel who sets the strongest language possible for this period. The Lord Jesus uses similar terminology in Matthew 24:21 and Mark 13:19 (see below). It is likewise Daniel that sets the length of time for the period in Daniel 9:27 at one week of years (7 years) when the Antichrist "... shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [of years] ..." (Dan. 9:24-27). We will deal with later in greater detail later.

Matthew 24:21: "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."

Mark 13:19: "For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be."

Hopefully we can see the difference between the "great tribulation" and the relatively minor "tribulation" of this world.

Now on to the other main premises of those who hold to the erroneous post-tribulation view of the rapture:

The "gathering together" of God's elect by angels in Matthew 24:31 is not the same as the "catching up" in 1 Thessalonians 4:17.  Here's why:

Matthew 24:31:  "And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." (cf. Mark 13:27)

Matthew 13:41-43:  "The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;  42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.  43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear."

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17:  "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall RISE first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

1 Corinthians 15:51-52:  "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be RAISED incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

There are stark differences between the gathering and the catching up passages?  In Matthew 13 and 24 we see that both the elect and the lost are gathered;  but in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 only saved people, both the dead are resurrected and the living are "caught up together with them ... to meet the Lord in the air ..." However, there is no indication that those in Matthew 13 and 24 are resurrected or changed (1 Cor. 15:52), but only that they are gathered.

Those of Matthew 24:31 are God's "elect," but those of Matthew 13:41 are lost sinners.  The Matthew 13:41 and 24:31 gatherings are explained in Matthew 25:

Matthew 25:31-34, 41, 46:  "When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:   32 And BEFORE HIM SHALL BE GATHERED ALL NATIONS: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.  34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ... 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: ... 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."

This sheep and goats judgment is Christ's separating the saved from the lost.  These are they who made it through the Great Tribulation in their physical bodies without dying.  The angels gather all, the elect and the lost, to be judged before Christ (Isa. 66:5).  This judgment determines who will enter physically into the Millennial Kingdom of Christ (Matt. 25:34; cf. Isa. 11:6-9, 65:25), and who will be cast into hell fire (Matt. 25:41, 46; Mk. 9:44-49; Isa. 66:24).   Those who received Christ during the 7 years of God's wrath upon the Earth and made it through alive will be allowed to enter the Millennium in their physical bodies and will live to great age and have children.  The lost will be sent to hell to await the Great White Throne Judgment when all the lost, from Cain to the last lost person born during the Millennium, will be judged (Rev. 20:11-15).

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 are obviously different and distinct from Matthew 24:31 and Mark 13:27.  They belong to two different dispensations of time set by God.  The former is the end of the Church Age (Matt. 28:20); the latter is the last 7 years of the Dispensation of Law which is yet to come (Dan. 9:24-27; This Prophecy of Daniel's 70 Weeks will be explained later).

The saved of this Church Age, who are called "the bride" (Jn. 3:29), "shall be caught up" and "be changed" instantaneously "in the twinkling of an eye." (1 Thess. 4:17; 1 Cor. 15:52).  That is, we will be the first of the saved to receive our glorified bodies.  The word of God clearly teaches that born again believers of this Church Age are removed from the Earth prior to the 7 years of God's wrath.  The Lord uses the symbol of a bride to illustrate this fact.  In the same way a loving husband would do for his wife, if he had power to do so, Christ will remove His bride from harms way before pouring out His wrath upon His enemies (Eph. 5:25-29; Nah. 1:2). Again, this is before the 7 year Tribulation begins as will be explained in more detail later (Heb. 11:39-40).

Furthermore, we should note that Matthew 24 from verse 15 to verse 31 concerns the last half of the Tribulation, from the middle of it to the end of it. The 7 year Tribulation is completely over by the time of Matthew 24:31 when Christ "... shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect ..." So this verse cannot be used by mid-tribulation or pre-wrath proponents to justify their positions, and we have already proven the error of the post-tribulation position above. The only tenable position one can hold concerning this verse is that it has nothing to do with the rapture at all as has been proven above.

How do we know this to be fact? We know it to be so from verses 27 and 28:

Matthew 24:27-28: "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together."

If we compare Matthew 24:27-28 above with Revelation 19:17-18 & 21 below we see that Christ has already returned before Matthew 24:31. So how can we "be caught up together ... to meet the Lord in the air" when He has already returned to the earth?

Revelation 19:11-21: "And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. 17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. 19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh."

In a parallel passage to verse 14 above we are told that these are "saints" of the Lord in Jude:

Jude 14-15: "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

2. Church Age Believers Cannot Know The Time, But Tribulation Saints Can:

We of this Church Age cannot know the times, hour, day or even the seasons of the Lord’s return in the air for us.

Acts 1:6-8: "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (cf. 1 Thess 5:1)

Matthew 25:13: "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." (cf. Matt 24:50; Mark 13:32' Luke 21:36)

Matthew 24:36-42: "But of THAT DAY and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." (In 3 of Paul's books the phrase, "that day" is used in conjunction with Christ's return [1 Thess. 5:4; 2 Thess. 1:10, 2:3; 2 Tim. 4:8]. The Lord used it above in Matthew, in Mark 13:32 and in Luke 21 below.)

Luke 21:29-34: "And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so THAT DAY come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."

Whereas we of the Church Age cannot know the time, the Tribulation saints will be able to know from Scripture the time of the Lord's return to the Earth to the very day:

The young Daniel was among those taken away into the 70 year Babylonian Captivity. Then one day after years in Babylon Daniel understood from the Book of Jeremiah that the Jews were to be in captivity 70 years (Jer 25:11-12, 29:10). God required these 70 years from Israel because of the transgressions and abominations of their leaders, and because the chief priests had polluted the Temple of Almighty God. Israel had not kept the sabbaths of years, that is every 7th year the land was not to be worked, but was to rest (Lev. 25:1-7). Israel owed the land 70 years of rest. The Bible says:

2 Chronicles 36:14-21: "Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem. 15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: 16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy. 17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand. 18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon. 19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. 20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: 21 To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years."

As Daniel was reading Jeremiah and praying in repentance for himself and his people God sent Gabriel to give him the Prophesy of 70 Weeks of years (490 years) which says:

Daniel 9:24-27: "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

Notice that this Prophecy of 70 Weeks especially concerns Daniel's "people," the Jews, and his "holy city," Jerusalem (v. 24), and prophesies of the coming of the Lord Jesus as "Messiah the Prince" (v. 25). The first 69 weeks of this prophecy (483 years) have been precisely fulfilled up to the 69th Week. The last week (of years) is the yet future 7 year Tribulation. Here is the simple breakdown:

Seven weeks (49 years) is the time from King Artaxerxes' command to build the wall of Jerusalem (Neh. 2:1-8) to it's completion (v. 25), and after 62 weeks (434 years) our Messiah was cut off. Jesus was crucified on the Thursday after His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem on the colt of an ass on Sunday, 31 March 30 AD fulfilling 69 weeks or 483 years of Daniel's amazing prophecy (7 + 62 = 69 x 7 = 483). This leaves one additional week (the 7 year Great Tribulation; 7 + 62 + 1 = 70 x 7 = 490 years).

The famous Irish Bible Chronologist, James Ussher (4 Jan. 1581 - 21 Mar. 1656) establish the date of the twentieth year of Artaxerxes at BC 454 which brings the 483 years of Daniel 9 to fulfillment in 30 AD. This has been reverified by Dr. Floyd Nolan Jones in his book, Chronology of the Old Testament: A Return to the Basics (2002; p. 241). Furthermore, "... hieroglyphic inscriptions in Egypt, shewing that Artaxerxes was associated with his father in the twelfth year of Xerxes' reign, so that there ought to be no longer any doubt respecting that famous prophecy of Daniel, so far at least as regards the crucifixion." (B.W. Savile, "Revelation and Science", Journal of Sacred Literature & Biblical Record, Series 4, [London: Williams and Norgate Pub., April, 1863], p. 156. sited by Jones, p. 253). By using Jones' Chart on page 266 of his Chronology we see that Jesus came into the city to be declared Prince (or King) on the 10th day of Nisan in the year 30 AD. On the 14th of Nisan He was crucified. On the 17th of Nisan He resurrected.

There has now been a grace period of almost 2000 years since Jesus fulfilled the 69th Week on March 31st in 30 AD when He road into Jerusalem on the colt of an ass. The Lord rode at first upon an ass and then upon it's colt the foal of an ass (Zech. 9:9; cf. Matt. 21:2). This must have some significance! I believe it pictures the break between the 69th and 70th weeks, the time out period for the Church Age or Age of Grace, the ass representing the Dispensation of Law, and the "colt the foal of an ass" signifies the Church Age. The Lord Jesus established His First Church during His earthly sojourn, completing it during His last week by instituting the Lord's Supper, and after His resurrection by giving the Great Commission, and finally empowering the believers with spiritual gifts 10 days after He ascended back to Heaven.

Zechariah 9:9: "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."

Matthew 21:4-5: "All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass." (cf. Matt. 21:1-11; Mark 11:1-10; Luke 19:28-44; John 12:1, 12-16)

The last Prophet of the Age of Law, John the Baptist, passed the baton to the Lord Jesus Christ and He built His church. All true churches are to be modeled after Christ's First Church (Matt 16:18). John the Baptist said:

John 3:27-30: "... A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. 28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. 29 He that hath the bride [New Testament church members] is the bridegroom [Jesus Christ]: but the friend of the bridegroom [John & other Old Testament saints], which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease."

Luke 16:16: "The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it."

Matthew 11:13: "For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John."

The Old Testament saints (of the first 69 weeks) and before, and Tribulation saints (of the 70th week) will be resurrected after the last week of Daniel. The Church Age saints will be resurrected/raptured before the last week of Daniel (cf. Dan 12:11-13; Job 19:25-27). Note that Hebrews 11, The Faith Chapter, speaks strictly of Old Testament saints except for the last verse:

Hebrews 11:39-40: "And THESE ALL [OT saved], having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise [resurrection]: God having provided some better thing for US [NT saved], that THEY without US should not be made perfect [raised]." (cf. Heb 11:1-38; Note: vs. 18, 19, 35)

1 Corinthians 15:21-23: "For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming."

Hebrews 12:22-24: "But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly [Saved out side the NT churches] and church of the firstborn [NT church members], which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect [OT saved to be raised at the end of the Trib], 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel."

During the Lord's last week before His crucifixion (Sunday through Wednesday) "He taught daily in the Temple" (Luke 19:47) elaborating on the "Great Tribulation" (Matt. 24:21; cf. Dan. 12:1; Mark 13:19; Rev. 2:22, 7:14). It was during this time that He gave His great prophetic discourses in the Temple (Luke 21) and on the Mount of Olives (Matt. 24; Mark 13). During these discourses He said several times that we of this Dispensation CANNOT know the time of the Rapture (cf. Matt. 24:36, 42; Mark 13:32; et. al.), but those of the Great Tribulation, the last 7 years of the Dispensation of Law may know. It will be 84 months long, precisely 2520 days, or seven 360 day years (Dan 9:27; cf. Rev. 6:1-2 [beginning]; Rev. 11:2-3 [1st half], Rev. 12:6 & Rev. 13:5 [2nd half], Rev. 19:11-21 [Christ's return]).

3. The “day of the Lord" or “day of God” is the 1,000 year Sabbath that begins and ends with God’s wrath:

In Genesis 2 God gave Adam only one negative command. The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:16-17:

"And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in THE DAY that thou eatest thereof THOU SHALT SURELY DIE."

Then in Genesis 3 we are given the account of Satan tricking Eve, and Adam disobeying the above command of God. Adam's sin passed to all mankind and now all die. The meaning of death is separation. They died spiritually on that 24 hour day (their spirits died separating from God because of their sin) and they also eventually died physically (their souls separating from their bodies). Since Adam and Eve all die physically and we are born spiritually dead having only "the residue of the spirit" (Mal. 2:15). This is the reason we must be born again spiritually (John 3:3, 7; 1 Pet. 1:23). They also died physically within God's 1,000 year day (Ps. 90:4; 2 Pet. 3:8). Adam died at 930 years of age and the oldest person who ever lived was 969 years old.

Psalm 90:4: "For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night."

2 Peter 3:8-14: "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless." (Note: 2 Pet. 3:10, 12, the day of the Lord God.)

The "day of the Lord" begins and ends with the wrath of God. It begins with the 7 year Tribulation and ends with fire from heaven and the Lake of Fire.

* The "day of the Lord" ends with fire from heaven and the Lake of Fire:

Revelation 20:7-15: "And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

* The "day of the Lord" begins with the 7 year Tribulation:

Amos 5:18, 20: "Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. ... Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?"

Isaiah 2:12, 20-21: "For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: ... 20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; 21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth."

Isaiah 13:6, 9: "Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. ... Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it."

Isaiah 34:8: "For it is the day of the LORD’S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion."

Jeremiah 46:10: "For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood ..." (cf. Lam. 2:22)

Ezekiel 30:3: "For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen." (cf. 13:5)

Obadiah 1:15: "For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head."

Zechariah 14:1: "Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee."

Joel 1:15: "Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come."<

Joel 2:1-6, 11: "Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. 3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. 4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. 6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. ... 11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? ... "

Joel 3:14: "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision."

The day of the LORD’S wrath” (Zeph 1:14-18; Ezek 7:19; Isa 13:9-13) is not the “tribulation” “in the world” that the Lord Jesus spoke of in John 16:33 (cf. John 15:20; Matt 5:10-12; Rev 2:10, et al). That is what believers have been experiencing from the beginning! It is what believers all over the world have been going through every day since the time of Christ. No, we are talking about “the wrath of the Lamb” (Rev 6:16-17; cf. Rom 1:18; Eph 5:6; Col 3:6), we are talking about “great tribulation” (Matt 24:21; Rev 2:22; 7:14; cf. Mark 13:19; Dan 12:1).

Hosea 6:1-3: "Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. 3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth."

4. The Righteous Nation, An Holy Nation: O Nation Not Desired:

The prime way of citizenship of any nation is by birth. The Lord Jesus said:

John 3:3, 5-7: "... Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. ... Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

1 Peter 1:23, 2:9-10: "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. ... But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, AN HOLY NATION, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."

Zephaniah 1:7-8, 14, 18, 2:1-3: Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests. 8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD’S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel. ... 14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. ... 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land. 1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O NATION NOT DESIRED; 2 BEFORE the decree bring forth, BEFORE the day pass as the chaff, BEFORE the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, BEFORE the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you. 3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger."

Isaiah 26:2-4, 9, 12, 15-16, 19-21: Open ye the gates, that THE RIGHTEOUS NATION which keepeth the truth may enter in. 3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: ... 9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. ... 12 LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us. ... 15 Thou hast increased THE NATION, O LORD, thou hast increased THE NATION: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth. 16 LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them. ... 19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. 20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. 21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain." (cf. 24:5-6)

Revelation 3:10: "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth."

5. Concerning Signs in Heaven:

There are a number of Biblical references to astronomical signs in heaven for the last days. There are signs in heaven throughout the Tribulation (Rev. 6:12-13, 7:16, 8:8-12, 16:8). Two are at the end of the Tribulation (Matt. 24:29; Mark 13:24). The below two references are clearly before the Tribulation:

Luke 21:11, 25, 28: "And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. ... And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ... And WHEN THESE THINGS BEGIN TO COME TO PASS, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."

Acts 2:17-21: And it shall come to pass in the last days [the Church Age & 1000 year Sabbath], saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, BEFORE THAT GREAT AND NOTABLE DAY OF THE LORD COME: 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." (cf. Joel 2:30-31; Heb. 1:1-3)

There have recently been signs in heaven falling on the Biblical feasts of the LORD that without an increase in scientific "knowledge" would have gone unnoticed. In the last chapter of the Book of the Prophet Daniel, he prophesied of it. He was told, "... O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." (Daniel 12:4) Today the exact times of Solar and Lunar eclipses, both past and future, can be pinpointed with precise precision. Very unusual astronomical events have occurred in our generation that had to do with the reestablishment (1948/9) of Israel and the capture of their Capital, Jerusalem (1967), both of which are prophesied in God's word for the last days. These events also occurred on the Biblical feasts of the Lord.

Genesis 1:14: “And God said, let there be LIGHTS in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for SIGNS, and for SEASONS, and for days, and years."

Leviticus 23:4: "These are the FEASTS of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their SEASONS."

The basic meaning of that word “seasons” used in Genesis 1:14 is “set time” or “time appointed” and is translated as such. In Leviticus 23:4 it is translated both as “feasts” and “seasons” in the same verse (see Gen. 1:14 and Lev. 23:4 above). Both the Biblical “feasts” and “seasons” are "appointed” and “set" times. Note:

"set time" (Gen. 17:21, 21:2; Ex. 9:5; 1 Sam. 13:8; 2 Sam. 20:5; Ps. 102:13)

"time appointed" (Gen. 18:14; Ex. 23:15; Josh. 8:14; 1 Sam. 20:35; Jer. 46:17; Dan. 8:19, 11:27, 29, 35; cf. Num. 9:2, 3, 7, 13; Hab. 2:3)

"seasons" (Gen. 1:14; Lev. 23:4; Ps. 104:19)

"feasts" (Lev. 23:2, 4, 37, 44; Num. 15:3, 29:39; 1 Chron. 23:31; 2 Chro. 2:4, 8:13, 31:3; Ezra 3:5; Neh. 10:33; Isa. 1:14; Lam. 1:4, 2:6; Ezek. 36:38, 46:9; Hos. 2:11; Zech. 8:19)

One of the prime purposes of the sun, moon and stars over and above the normal marking of time, is that they are also for special signs in conjunction with the Biblical "feasts."

There have been 3 comets, 5 solar eclipses and 3 lunar tetrads that I know of that have fallen on Biblical feast and fast days since 1948. Significant prophetic events accompanied some of these: 1) The Israeli War of Independence in 1948/9, and 2) the recapture of Jerusalem in 1967 after 1,897 years.

These Biblical signs tell us that we are nearing the end of this Church Age! (Acts 2:19-20)

6. The Chronological Order of The Book of The Revelation of Jesus Christ:

It is important to note that unlike the Olivet and Temple discourses during the Lord’s last week before His crucifixion, His Revelation is predominately in chronological order. Consider the sequences of the 7 churches, 7 seals, 7 trumpets, and the 3 woes that bring us up to the middle of the Tribulation, and after that there are 7 vials. Also observe the phrases like “after these things” showing chronology (Rev 4:1, 7:1, 9, 8:13, 15:5 18:1, 19:1). The chronological order of The Revelation is also seen in its outline. Here is the outline of the Book:

Revelation 1:19: "Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter"

* The "things which thou hast seen" are the things that the Apostle John saw in Chapter 1: The glorified Christ and several symbols.

* The Church Age is depicted as "the things which are." This is chapters 2 and 3 which contain 7 letters from Christ to 7 churches that symbolize 7 periods of church history.

* Clearly, "the things which shall be hereafter" begin with the Rapture. The Apostle John, himself, is a type who signifies all believers for he says, "I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ ..." (Rev. 1:9). In the Book of John, he never uses his own name, but calls himself: "the disciple whom Jesus loved" (John 21:20, cf. 13:23, 19:26, 20:2, 21:7). John was among the very first of the Church Age believers. It is John who wrote of Christ's love for us (John 15:10, 12). The Lord Jesus loves us just as He loved John. John is a picture of all Church Age believers in Revelation 4:1 where it says:

Revelation 4:1: "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter." (cf. 1:19; John 10:1, 2, 7, 9; 1 Cor. 15:51-52; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; and See Appendixes 2 below.)

7. God Has Not Appointed His Children to Wrath:

The Word of God says to Church Age believers, "... wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come." (1 Thessalonians 1:10)   Those who hold to the Pre-Wrath and Mid-Tribulation theories of the Rapture love to claim that the first half of the Tribulation is not the wrath of God. But is it? We have already seen that "the Day of the Lord" begins with the 70th Week of Daniel (7 year Tribulation), and that it is described in Zephaniah 2:1-3 in these words: "Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you. Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger." So, yes, all who seek "meekness" (cf. James 1:21; Matt. 5:5; Ps. 25:9) and find Christ's "righteousness" (cf. Matt. 6:33; Rom. 3:22, 5:17, 21, 10:4; Phil. 1:11, 3:9; 2 Pet. 1:1) will be "hid" (Zeph. 2:3; cf. Luke 21:36) "in that day" (Mal. 4:1; Isa. 2:11-12, 17, 13:6, 9, 11). They shall be gathered when the trump sounds and God calls, "Gather ... together, yea, gather together, ... before the day of the LORD’S anger come ..."

Furthermore, according to the Book of Revelation the entire 7 year Tribulation is considered to be the "wrath of God." Here are the reasons why:

*   Half of the population of the Earth is wiped out during the first half of the Tribulation (Rev 9:15, 18), one quarter by the 4th Seal (Rev 6:7-8). It is the Lord Jesus personally opening the 7 seals, the last of which unleashes the battle trump judgments. All 7 seals and the 7 trumpets clearly contain the direct wrath of God. Judging from the opening of the first 4 seals in rapid succession, it appears that they occur quickly at the very beginning of the Tribulation.
*   It does not indicate that God is merely permitting those things, but that Christ is actually causing them by opening the seals:
Revelation 6:1: "And I saw when the Lamb [Jesus Christ] opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see."
*   The Bible does not speak of Satan's wrath until the middle of the Tribulation, 3 and 1/2 years in. His wrath is directed at those who were saved as the result of the 144,000 witnesses of the tribes of Israel. This is after he has been cast out of heaven (Rev 12:12, 13:7).
*   The lost of that time just after the beginning of the Tribulation will know that it is God's wrath that has come upon them:
Revelation 6:15-16: "And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from THE WRATH OF THE LAMB."
*   The Wrath will come from God by way of holy angels that He will send:
Revelation 7:2-3: "And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads."
*   At the sounding of the 5th trumpet only lost people are tormented by devils who have been loosed from the bottomless pit:
Revelation 9:4-6: "And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them."
*   God had used demons to send forth His wrath in the past and does so again during the first half of the Tribulation:
Revelation 9:13-15: "And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men." (cf. Psalm 78:49: "He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, WRATH, and indignation, and trouble, by sending EVIL ANGELS among them.")

All these and other forms of the wrath of God all take place in the first half of the Tribulation killing 1/2 of the population that remains after the Rapture. So there surely is a Scriptural basis for the idea that the bad things of Revelation 6-9 are directly God's wrath. All the evidence points to the Pre-Tribulation Rapture.

The "children of God" are NOT appointed to GOD'S WRATH; the "children of disobedience" are!

2 Peter 3:9:  "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

Romans 2:4-11:  "Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself WRATH against THE DAY OF WRATH and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;  6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:  7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and WRATH9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;  10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:  11 For there is no respect of persons with God."

John 3:36:  "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but THE WRATH OF GOD abideth on him."

Ephesians 2:1-5:  "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;  2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature THE CHILDREN OF WRATH, even as others4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ ..."

Ephesians 5:5-8:  "For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.  6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh THE WRATH OF GOD upon THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE.  7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.  8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord ..."

Colossians 3:5-7:  "Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:  6 For which things’ sake THE WRATH OF GOD cometh on THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them."

Psalm 2:12:  "Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him."

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10: "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him."

Galatians 3:26: "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."

1 John 3:10: "In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother."

CONCLUSION:

Now we have seen that the “great tribulation” is the last 7 years of Daniel’s 70 Weeks of years (Dan 9:24-27), and that the Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled the first 69 weeks of this prophecy on 31 March in 30 AD exactly 483 years after it began when King Artaxerxes' commanded to build the wall of Jerusalem (Neh. 2:1-8). "Numbering from ... [Artaxerxes'] twentieth year over the Jews as BC 454 (or AM 3550 inclusive, exactly as Ussher) 484 and the 483 years of the Daniel 9:25 prophecy brings us to 30 AD for its fulfillment (454 BC + 30 AD = 484 less 1 for going from BC to AD = 483). ... Jesus came into the city to be declared Prince (or King) on the 10th day of Nisan [Lamb selected - Ex. 12:3] in the year 30 AD. On the 14th of Nisan [Passover - Ex. 12:6] He was crucified. On the 17th of Nisan [Firstfruits - Lev. 23:5-11] He resurrected." (Jones, Chronology of the Old Testament, pp. 251, 267).

With the selection of Jesus by a multitude of people as their Lamb, and Messiah, at the Lord’s Triumphant Entry in to Jerusalem God's Prophecy of 70 Weeks stopped with one more week to play out. No one knows when God will set this last week, 7 years, back into motion, but before He does He will remove all Church Age believers, both dead and living, to the Judgment Seat of Christ.

Note again that the 70 Weeks were designated for Daniel’s “people” (Dan 9:24) including the last week (Dan 12:1). It is not for any saved person of this 2000 year Church Age which began the day after the Lord’s Triumphant Entry in to Jerusalem on 31 March 30 AD. The 69th week ended that day. The last Week is the last 7 years of the Dispensation of Law. Note also that the work of winning souls reverts back from the churches of this Age to Israel when the Seventieth Week begins (Rev 7; cf. Matt 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Luke 24:46-49 John 20:19-23; Acts 1:6-8; Rev 3:10).

We have also seen that "the day of the Lord" of the Bible is the 1,000 year Sabbath, the seven-thousandth year from creation, when the Lord Jesus Christ will rule and reign upon the Earth. Generally, this Day is thought of as the Great Tribulation, but that is only the first of it. This Millennial Sabbath Day both begins and ends with the wrath of God on lost mankind. After the Tribulation all those who made it through those 7 years of hell on earth will be gathered before the Almighty, the Lord Jesus Christ, for judgment (Matt 25:31-46). The lost who did not receive Christ as Saviour that made it to the end will be sent into hell fire (Matt 25:41, 46), and those who did receive the Lord Jesus after the Rapture will enter the Millennium in normal physical bodies, but will live to great age. The prophet Isaiah writes thusly of this Day:

"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. ... The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD." (Isaiah 11:6-9, 65:25)

During this 1,000 year Day people must freely receive Christ as Saviour as in all dispensations, but a multitude will not! Revelation 20 speaks on this wise concerning the end of that Day:

"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them." (Revelation 20:7-9)

Furthermore, we have seen that the clear chronological order of the Book of Revelation demands the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of all Church Age saints before God pours His wrath upon this earth. Revelation 1:19 gives the three point outline of the Book:

"Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter."

* "The things which thou hast seen" are the glorified Lord Jesus Christ and several symbols that accompany Him.

* "The things which are" are represented by 7 letters to 7 churches that also symbolize our 2,000 year Church Age. As of this writing, these things still are today.

* "The things which shall be hereafter" are the things from the Rapture (cf. Rev. 4:1) to the New Heavens and New Earth (cf. Rev. 21 - 22).

Today the signs in heaven before the Day indicate that we are near the Tribulation:

Joel 2:28-32: "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call."

Isaiah 26:20-21: "Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain."

Zephaniah 2:1-3: "Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O NATION NOT DESIRED; 2 BEFORE the decree bring forth, BEFORE the day pass as the chaff, BEFORE the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, BEFORE the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you. 3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger."

1 Thessalonians 5:1-4, 9-10: “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that THE DAY OF THE LORD so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon THEM [the lost], as travail upon a woman with child; and THEY [the lost] SHALL NOT ESCAPE. But YE [the saved], brethren, are not in darkness, that THAT DAY should overtake YOU [the saved] as a thief ... For God hath not appointed US to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him."

APPENDIXES

1. Simple, Clear, Concise & Indisputable Passages Proving the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of Church Age Saints:

Amos 5:18-19: "Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him."

Zephaniah 2:1-2: "Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired; BEFORE the decree bring forth, BEFORE the day pass as the chaff, BEFORE the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, BEFORE the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you." (cf. Nation = 1 Pet. 2:9; Isa. 26:2, 15, 19-21)

Revelation 1:19: "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter." (The "door" = Jesus Christ: John 10:7 & 9. The "trumpet" & "come up hither" = The Rapture: 1 Thess. 4:16-17; 1 Cor. 15:51-52. The "things which must be hereafter" = the Tribulation, the return of Christ, Millennium, etc. that come after "the things which are," the Church Age: Rev. 1:19)

1 Thessalonians 4:16 - 5:4: "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and THEY shall not escape. 4 But YE, BRETHREN, are not in darkness, that THAT DAY should overtake YOU as a thief."

2. The Chronological Order of The Book of Revelation:

Revelation 1:19, 4:1: "Write the things which THOU HAST SEEN, and the THINGS WHICH ARE, and the THINGS WHICH SHALL BE HEREAFTER; ... AFTER THIS I looked, and, behold, A DOOR was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of A TRUMPET TALKING WITH ME; WHICH SAID, COME UP HITHER, and I will shew thee things which must be HEREAFTER."

The book of Revelation was "signified" to the Apostle John with much symbolic language (Rev. 1:1). For example, the phrase, "the things which are" (Rev. 1:19) above signifies the Church Age. Revelation 1:19 and 4:1 above are key passages in identifying the timing of the Rapture, and showing the chronology of the Book. In Revelation 1:19 the Lord Jesus Christ gives us His outline of the Book. The Lord's Outline coupled with the many words and phrases like the following indicate that Revelation is predominately in chronological order, and likewise proving that the seal, trumpet and vial judgments are not repeats of one another.

The phrases and words proving chronology are:
